October 16th 2019! The day we officially became the caretakers of this fine young lady up in Bellingham, Washington.
Woohoo! 1st entry on the blog! I also still cannot believe that we own such a beautiful boat. The purchase finalized on wednesday, October 16th 2019. Later that week, on Friday (er.. the wee hours of Saturday morning), Lance got done with work and we headed to the boat. Despite arriving around 3AM to Lorien, which was moored in Bellingham, we would not get to sleep until after 6AM! We were busy digging around and learning as much as we could, checking out every little nook & cranny.
Saturday was filled with projects and countless trips to West Marine, LFS Marine, Walmart, among other stores to find all the things we'd need. Being Fall, it was a bit chilly on the boat, especially at night. Of course, at this point we're still trying to figure out how to replumb the diesel heater, so that option is off the table for now on how we can heat up our boat.
The day also brought lots of organizing, deciding where things will live, and deciding what's most important in our preparations for next week's adventure sailing her down to her new home in Tacoma. A 120 mile trip in late October in the Salish Sea! What could go wrong??? We're hoping to tackle the trip in two to three days with the help of some friends willing to crew despite the chilly weather!
